Accessibility

We build and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as our target. We also take our obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act seriously — the same principle that means we serve every buyer and seller equally applies to the way this website works.

• Every page begins with a “Skip to main content” link, so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump straight past the header and navigation.
• The site can be operated by keyboard, and the element you are on is always outlined in a high-contrast focus ring — including on our dark navy sections, where a default outline would disappear.
• Every form field has a proper label attached to it, not just grey placeholder text that vanishes the moment you start typing.
• Property photographs carry text descriptions, and decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them instead of reading filenames aloud.
• Animation and motion are reduced automatically if your device is set to prefer reduced motion.
• Listing details — price, beds, baths, square footage, address — are real text and headings, so a screen reader can read them aloud rather than meeting an image.
• Text can be enlarged in your browser without the layout breaking or content disappearing.

We would rather be straight with you than display a badge. This site has not been through a formal third-party accessibility audit, so we do not claim full conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA.

Some property photographs come directly from the Multiple Listing Service with descriptions written by other brokerages, which we cannot rewrite. Our interactive map search is difficult to use without a pointing device — if that affects you, the list of every Staten Island home for sale and the New Jersey listings contain the same properties in a form that reads properly. Documents we publish as PDFs, including property brochures, may not be fully tagged for screen readers; ask us and we will provide the same information in another format.

Accessibility is ongoing work here, not a box that was ticked once. When we find a barrier, we fix it.

Please tell us. You will reach a person, not a ticket queue, and you do not need to explain or justify anything. If a page will not work with your software, tell us what you were trying to do and we will help you directly — including reading listings to you over the phone, arranging a viewing, or sending details in whatever format suits you best.

We have chosen them with accessibility in mind where we had a choice, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content that originates elsewhere. Tell us if one of them is causing you a problem and we will work around it.
