Neuhaus Realty Supports World Autism Awareness Day! Community Oriented Real Estate Company on Staten Island Helps Fight Autism!

Autism – Are You Aware?

Today is the fifth annual World Autism Awareness Day. All around the world, people band together to raise awareness and money to battle this disorder.

According to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 1 in 88 children are affected by some form of an autism spectrum disorder. Autism affects both genders, all races, and all socioeconomic groups. The CDC states*:

“About 1 in 6 children in the U.S. had a developmental disability in 2006-2008, ranging from mild disabilities such as speech and language impairments to serious developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and autism.”

 – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The table below shows just how common autism is, as well as the increase in its prevalence*

Staten Island Real Estate Company Helps Battle Autism

Neuhaus Realty, Staten Island’s leading real estate company, is a proud supporter of autism awareness and of The GRACE Foundation. Buying and selling homes is not the only priority for this community-oriented Staten Island real estate company! Neuhaus Realty will be holding its 4th annual autism awareness fundraiser for The GRACE Foundation of NY.

On Saturday, May 19th, this Staten Island real estate company will hold its fourth annual fundraiser at Puglia’s By the Sea, a beautiful Staten Island establishment. This wine, dine, and dance event will serve as a fundraiser to help battle autism. The cost is $125 and all proceeds will go to The GRACE Foundation.

Two dedicated members of The GRACE Foundation happen to be our very own Bruce and Carolyn Kapp. Their eldest son Brucie has Asperger’s, and their younger son John has pervasive developmental disability, both within the autism spectrum of disorders. They have been very active with supporting The GRACE Foundation, and the foundation has been extremely supportive of the Kapps.  To read more about their experiences, thoughts, struggles, and triumphs, please check out this featured article from
